What is the Health Professions Student Loan?
The Health Professional Student Loan is a need-based loan offered to College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) students. Its availability is based on annual funding.
What Are the Application Requirements?
Students interested in applying for the Health Professions Student Loan should complete all requirements before submitting their application.
- Complete the most recent FAFSA application.
- Submit the Health Professions Student Loan (HPSL) Application through Vet Med Hub.
- Submit Student & Parent’s 2022 signed tax information to the Financial Aid Office.

Interest Rate
- No origination fees
- No accrued interest while in school
- Post-graduation 5% fixed interest rate
Flexible Repayment
- Longer grace period for repayment
- No payments for the first 12 months after graduation
Federal Program Eligibility
- HPSLs and Loans for Disadvantaged Students (LDS) may qualify for PSLF, IDR, and other federal programs if consolidated with a Direct Consolidation Loan.
How Do I Know if I'm Eligible?
Students interested in applying for the Health Professions Student Loan are encouraged to check their eligibility to ensure they meet all requirements.
- CVM Students enrolled full-time and in good standing.
- Must be a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident of the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, or the Trust Territory of the Pacific.
- Demonstrate a financial need.
