By providing expert insights and guidance on industry trends, council members contribute to shaping critical decisions and advocate for the college, promoting its mission and initiatives within their networks. Through regular engagement with CVM leadership, council members can learn and give guidance where necessary. Council members will be crucial in establishing strategic partnerships with relevant organizations, amplifying the college's impact. With a commitment to periodic meetings, including an annual in-person gathering and virtual sessions, members ensure ongoing collaboration and progress.

Dr. Mike Ames, a fourth-generation resident of Douglas, Arizona, is a distinguished veterinarian and entrepreneur. Born and raised in Douglas, Dr. Ames embarked on his professional journey with a profound passion for serving his community and the broader field of veterinary medicine.

PetSmart Charities is the leading funder of animal welfare in the United States and is approaching $600M in grant-making over its 30-year history.

Joe Hanold

Joh Hanold

Joe is a retired Engineering Fellow who worked for Hughes Aircraft/Raytheon in the Aerospace Industry for 32 years. During his career, he had various technical assignments in manufacturing and design. Eventually, he held positions as Chief Engineer and Program Manager. Joe is proud to have received patents for some of his technical accomplishments.

Johnny W. Kieckhefer

Johnny W. Kieckhefer

John "Johnny" Kieckhefer was born and raised in Prescott, Arizona, on the family's cattle operation, the K4 Ranch. Living 40 miles north of Prescott provided Johnny and his brother Rick with an amazing opportunity to learn the cattle and ranching industry firsthand, working as boys with many of Arizona's best cowboys.

Andrew Maccabe

Andrew Maccabe, DVM, MPH, JD

Dr. Andrew T. Maccabe is the Chief Executive Officer of the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges. He received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Ohio State University in 1981 and 1985, respectively. He began his professional career working in a mixed animal practice with a primary emphasis on dairy herd health.

Dr. Richard Panzero, DVM, is a highly respected veterinarian renowned for his exceptional expertise and compassionate care. For over 30 years, he has been the dedicated owner of River Road Pet Clinic PLLC in Tucson, Arizona. This three-doctor AAHA-accredited practice specializes in small animal and exotic care. 

Lorraine Rhoads

Lorraine Rhoads

Lorraine Rhoads is a dedicated animal biologist and environmental scientist with a profound love for animal science. A proud alumnus of the University of Arizona, Lorraine has honed her expertise through a diverse range of experiences. Her career includes teaching Conservation Biology at the Biosphere II Center, where she delighted in sharing her love of studying biological systems with young people.

Audrey Wystrach

Audrey Wystrach, DVM

Dr. Audrey Wystrach is a highly recognized leader within the veterinary industry who has been practicing veterinary medicine for 30 years and is the founder and CEO of Petfolk and the Co-Founder and Board Member of the Veterinary Virtual Care Association. Dr. Wystrach has pioneered adopting virtual care connected with in-clinic care for pets to help relieve the shortage of veterinarians and access to care for pet parents.
