Throughout their three years at veterinary school, VetCats have dedicated themselves to honing the clinical and professional skills essential for success as veterinarians. With the approaching culmination of their hard work, we celebrate their individual journeys to success.
What are your plans for after graduation?
I plan to work in a small animal general practice in Palos Verdes, CA.
How did your educational experiences influence your career path?
My educational experiences in biological sciences and cognitive/behavioral psychology, coupled with my love for animals and experience in veterinary medicine, have greatly influenced my career path and love for veterinary medicine.
What aspect of your future opportunities excites you the most?
As a veterinarian, one of the most exciting aspects of future opportunities in the field is the constant evolution of veterinary medicine. The constant progression of medical treatment, surgical techniques, and diagnostics are emerging consistently, allowing us to improve health outcomes and the overall well-being of our patients.
Justin's Veterinary Journey
In students' third year of veterinary school, also known as their clinical year, they complete required and optional rotations at various veterinary clinics. This hands-on clinical experience allows students to develop vital skills they will use daily in their careers.
Can you share how your clinical year experiences have equipped you for your veterinary career?
My experience throughout my clinical year has been instrumental in allowing me to apply my knowledge of veterinary medicine in a clinical setting. The hands-on nature of clinical rotations has been crucial in sharpening my surgical skills and formulating treatment plans, which have significantly improved and developed my critical thinking skills and decision-making capabilities.

What advice would you give to a first-year student?
Have confidence in your abilities. You’ve worked extremely hard to be where you are today and deserve to be a veterinarian.
