The University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine is holding White Coat Ceremonies for the Classes of 2023 and 2025 this August. The Class of 2023 was celebrated on August 5. This event, attended by the 110 students, their family members, classmates, and University staff, honored the students’ entrance into clinical veterinary settings. Students received white doctor’s coats emblazoned with their names and the College’s logo, denoting that they are nearing their goal of becoming doctors. They will wear these coats in their clinical rotations and represent the University in the field.

While white coats are typically bestowed upon the beginning of medical students’ educational journeys, the Class of 2023 embarked on their studies amidst the upheaval of 2020, and an in-person event was not possible. CVM instead elected to hold the first White Coat Ceremony as students ended their second year and began their clinical studies. Students had the unique opportunity to select mentors who have shaped their studies to accompany them onto the stage and place their coats on them.

On August 19, the Class of 2025 finished their first week on campus by attending their White Coat Ceremony at the Tucson Community Center. Our students accomplished much on the road to veterinary school. We enjoyed welcoming the Class of 2025 and their families to celebrate the beginning of their Doctor of Veterinary Medicine studies. All subsequent incoming classes will also attend their white coat events at the beginning of their DVM journey.
