For Domo Williams, veterinary school was more than just a dream—it was a challenge she accepted with grit, heart, and a clear vision for the future. Though she had little prior hands-on veterinary experience, what she lacked in experience, she made up for in determination and a deep commitment to learning. Now, as she prepares to graduate, Domo is ready to take the next big step in her journey by joining Hippo Veterinary Group as a 5th Year student. The program is designed to accelerate her growth, offering the equivalent of years of clinical experience in just one year. It's a launching pad that will prepare her to eventually achieve her long-term goal: opening a mobile veterinary clinic that brings high-quality, compassionate care directly to pets and their people.

She’s quick to credit the people who helped her get here.

“I wouldn’t be here without the professors who poured into me. Dr. Eaton encouraged my growth in large animal medicine. Dr. Huey and Dr. Bowens pushed me to think like a business owner and to be fearless in taking every opportunity to learn. And Dr. King generously shared her time to walk me through, step-by-step, how she owns and operates her mobile veterinary practice.”

Her classmates were equally important.

“My peers also played a huge role in my success. The support, collaboration, and shared experiences with Suz, Noel, Diana, Esther, and Gaby helped me fill in the gaps in my learning and strengthened my confidence in the classroom and beyond.”

Looking back, the clinical year was a turning point.

“Clinical year transformed me. I can see the difference between my first day and my last; my confidence, knowledge, and skills have all grown tremendously.”

Her advice for students just starting their own journeys?

“Never forget your ‘why.’ This journey will challenge you, but remembering the reason you started will carry you through every long night and early morning.”

Domo is well on her way to making a meaningful impact—one patient, one family, one community at a time.
