Our Animals

Our dedicated veterinary and animal care team closely monitors and cares for our teaching herds and ensures the utmost quality of life. To safeguard the quality of care, we document and report the health of our animals and retain oversight from IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee) and the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture).

Our Horses

Our herd of horses (and one donkey) is primarily composed of senior equines, who enjoy excellent veterinary care, food, and enrichment throughout their retirement years. Regular interaction with our horses teaches our future veterinarians to observe, monitor, and provide exceptional care for every stage of life.

Our Cattle

Our retired cows have found their perfect second career serving as gentle teachers for students learning proper large ruminant handling techniques and care. These experienced ladies bring both calm temperaments and rich personalities to the pastures, where they can often be spotted grazing, socializing with their herd mates, and participating in hands-on learning experiences.

Our Sheep

Our sheep serve as excellent ambassadors for small ruminant education, providing students with comprehensive training in handling, herding techniques, and management of common health conditions. Their diverse personalities and varying comfort levels around people help students develop the nuanced skills essential for working with different temperaments.
