Dr. Ryane Englar, Associate Professor of Practice at the University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine, was recently awarded the Veterinary Heroes Award in the General Practitioner category. The Veterinary Heroes Awards, hosted by DVM360, “showcases individuals who have achieved landmark successes within veterinary medicine. The program honors veterinary leaders selected by their peers for their remarkable achievements in improving patient outcomes.” These veterinary heroes are selected by their peers and stand out as experienced professionals who prioritize evidence-based medicine as they advance the veterinary profession. When asked what this award means to her, Dr. Englar shared,
“I have been fortunate to have been touched by so many in this profession. Receiving this award is the gift of a lifetime --- a reminder to me that I could not be where I am today without those around me. That I have had the privilege to teach in a profession that I love means everything to me. My students are tomorrow’s leaders. This is really about them, for them. They have shown me the way even when I faltered. I am immensely grateful for those who have taught and those who continue to teach me to dream big, to laugh often, to love much, and to grow. This award finds me grateful above all to those who gave me lift, who helped me rise above, and who taught me it’s okay to be me. Veterinary medicine is a community of innovators and creators, thinkers and doers. How fortunate am I to be among that group, not just today, but always.”
