Our accelerated emergency veterinarian training program, emERge, helps you become a proficient ER clinician while earning a competitive salary. You’ll be paired with an experienced ER doctor who will guide you in developing your skills, taking charge, leading others and achieving successful patient outcomes in the fast-paced emergency room.

Health & Well-Being

Alongside rigorous training, we prioritize mental health. The best veterinarians in the world can’t do their jobs effectively if they don’t first care for themselves, and we want to foster that self-care early in our Associates. The Clinicians-in-Training Health & Well-Being program focuses on self-care, providing learning sessions with veterinary social workers or wellness educators and access to mental health and wellness resources.

Timing of Training Programs

We understand that not every school has graduation on the same timeline, making applying to traditional training programs more difficult. At BluePearl we’ve established ways for you to maximize your potential, gain experience and achieve your professional goals without delay.

You may join one of our prestigious internship programs at the same time as peers from other schools, with the initial weeks being considered externship weeks to satisfy your educational requirements. During this time, you’ll remain a student but gain valuable experience in our hospitals. Then, upon graduating in August, you’ll become a full-time BluePearl Associate, with compensation, placing you on the same cycle as everyone else. This will let you take full advantage of the VIRMP to pursue residency programs, if you choose to do so.

For the emERge program, we have modified the program to allow you to complete your in-hospital rotations prior to our January bootcamp. After graduation, you’ll have a few weeks off, then start your full-time position in October, followed by bootcamp in January. You’ll be on track with your fellow winter emERge doctors, accelerating your career and getting you in the field sooner.
