About Dr. Shreve

Dr. Lara Shreve graduated from U of A with a bachelor’s degree in veterinary science and attended veterinary school at Colorado State University. Dr. Shreve also completed a veterinary acupuncture certification course for graduate veterinarians and senior veterinary students offered through CSU. After graduation from veterinary school, she completed an equine internship at Elgin Veterinary Hospital, an equine referral hospital in Elgin, Texas. After completion of her internship, Dr. Shreve stayed on at EVH for 12 years. During her time at EVH Dr. Shreve assisted in managing interns and became proficient in many facets of equine general practice, surgery, and emergency care. Dr. Shreve is a seasoned veterinary acupuncture practitioner treating primarily bucking bulls and horses and the occasional canine patient. After leaving EVH she joined a mixed animal practice in rural Arizona, where she practiced for four years. In 2021 she joined the U of A CVM faculty in the clinical skills department. Dr. Shreve is also the herd veterinarian for the CVM owned animals at the Campus Agricultural Center, where she cares for the horses, cattle and sheep used for teaching in the CVM curriculum. Dr. Shreve is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
